Festival Enquiries:

The annual and very popular Wirral Folk Festival (of music, dance and poetry), based at the Whitby Club and grounds, returns to Ellesmere Port on Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th June 2020. It will be the 15th in the sequence that continues to thrill and attract audiences from all over the UK and Europe.

Main acts will perform five concerts in the large concert hall on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening, Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening.
Main stage artistes are: - Headline act - the iconic folk/pop band ‘Lindisfarne’ from the north east of England. ‘Ashley Hutchings’, founder member of another iconic folk rock band ‘Fairport Convention’, appears with Becky Mills from Yorkshire in presenting the musical show - ‘The beginnings of Fairport’.

Other main stage acts are the awarding winning trio ‘Trials of Cato’, Anglo/French folk/rockers ‘The Churchfitters’, Merseyside’s very own folk/rock band Merry Hell, Irish singer-songwriter/comedian ‘Anthony John Clarke’, contemporary singer-song writing duo ‘Winter Wilson’, comedy poet ‘Les Barker’ comedic singer-songwriter ‘Dave Gibb’, Midlands band ‘The Lost Notes’ and all female Celtic & Blue Grass quartet ‘The Magpies’.

Very talented local acts complete the line up. They are, Cheshire’s ‘Fiddlestone’ and ‘Helsby Mountain String Band’. Liverpool’s ‘Ukulele Uff Trio’ and Welsh residents, ‘Phoebe Rees’ and ‘Ben Robertson’.

The festival will take place as usual at The Whitby Club, Chester Road/Dunkirk Lane, Ellesmere Port, CH65 6QF and the format will be the same as in previous years with main stage concerts featuring the principal artistes plus a large number of fringe events in other parts of the building.

A Craft Fair and Morris Dancers will add to the spectacle.
On-site camping facilities in the sports field grounds are excellent and includes an area of hard standing for large caravans/motorhomes.
Field portaloo toilet facilities and main building toilets and showers are available also.
The club has its own excellent catering facilities and low price food and drink is available (including breakfast) throughout each day in the main lounge.
